Experience

My skating career began at the age of nine and I quickly fell in love with the ice. I spent much of my teen years competing and performing in shows/exhibitions before discovering my true passion for teaching others. In 2011 I began coaching through Kirkwood Ice Arena’s Learn to Skate program and have been a part of that program ever since. I have taught every level of Learn to Skate and have trained many newer instructors.

In my 12 years of experience, I have instructed hundreds of students of all ages in figure skating, hockey/power skating, and basic skating skills. I have spent considerable time honing my coaching skills by apprenticing with PSA Master Rated coaches in the area and have a commitment to lifelong learning.

I am a professional member of PSA, USFSA, and ISI with SafeSport certification, coaching insurance, and an approved background check.

Off the ice, I enjoy cutting music for skaters to use in programs for testing, competitions, and exhibitions. I edit music of various styles and lengths every year and provide this service to my own skaters as well as other coaches to use for their skaters.

In addition to my coaching experience, I am also a licensed Physician Assistant. I bring that medical knowledge to all of my skaters by helping to teach proper injury prevention techniques, managing persistent injuries, and correcting alignment problems while skating.

My experience also helps me to identify warning signs of eating disorders and body dysmorphia, improve self-confidence, and foster a positive learning environment. I have worked with many students with ADHD, learning disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, and other mental health conditions that impact the way a skater learns and trains.

I strive to foster happy and healthy skaters through my unique combination of coaching experience and medical knowledge!
